Another prompt idea and this one, I admit, is a bit unnerving. Things I do well? Really? Well, here goes.
1. Teach. I've been a high school English teacher for 11 years and love what I do. I do! I would hope someone would correct me if I wasn't doing so well...
2. Bake. I have a dd with multiple, severe food allergies. I bake most items except store-bought sliced bread. No eggs, no tree nuts, no peanuts, limited wheat. I tis a challenge I embrace and enjoy as it helps keep her safe and healthy.
3. Mother. Truth be told, I make plenty of mistakes as a parent. I don't know any parent that doesn't. If they say they are perfect they are lying. Anyhoo, my kids look happy and well-adjusted, they are compassionate (well, sometimes not-so-much to one another), and they are kind (see previous comment). For now, at least, I seem to be doing more good than harm. Phew.
4. Read. I'm an English teacher. I'm a graduate student. I read and am good at it. If I wasn't, I certainly would not be doing what I am doing.
5. Write. Ok, this is my disclaimer: I like to write and it comes easier to me than to most. Am I published? Well, one academic article (big deal, so what). Am I making progress on my dissertation? Most days, yes. Am I an awesome writer? By my standards, yes. Does this mean you necessarily agree with my warped self-assessment? Absolutely not.
Thanks for reading.
