Instead, I will write about my Dream Day. A Philofaxy friend, Kanalt, did this in June for her birthday post, and, since I NEVER get more than a moment alone, while not fantasize about a DAY alone? Not sure if this will uplifting or depressing, but here goes.
1. Get up at 5, watch the sun rise, and enjoy a cuppa coffee on my patio. No one asks me an inane question or is even up, for that matter. Breakfast would be greek yogurt with wild raspberries. I would also take Mabel, the dog, for a nice long walk without having to herd the children along with us.
2. Read uninterrupted until I feel like stopping.
3. Get a bento box lunch full of Japanese goodness from a local shop. Eat it peacefully without jumping up once to serve the wee ones.
4. Read some more, work on a crafty project, or go and browse a bookstore, library, and/or stationery shop. Alone. Sauntering, not speeding, style.
5. Chit-chat on Skype about Filofaxes with my Philofaxy friends. Again, no yelling, screaming, and/or crying in the background.
5. Dinner would be a yummy veg dish from a vegetarian restaurant that I never get to order from as They don't like it. Maybe a curry with naan bread, or a tofu creation. Yummers!
6. Write a few hours on dissertation. Alone. Uninterrupted. While sipping some delicious coffee. I could actually accomplish something!
That's about it. I see a theme here, unfortunately. In my Dream World I would have a nanny at my disposal to tend to the kiddos. Until then, I will have to suffice with my hour of peace in the am. :)
Thanks for reading!

That sounds like a perfect day! I don't have children but I can imagine having a day of just doing the things you want to do would be bliss. The only thing is, I bet by the end of it you would really be missing all the noise and chatter - or maybe not :)It's always good to dream though. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteSandra, I totally relate! In fact, I'm having part of your dream day TODAY! DH took the kids swimming and granted me a day for myself. We regularly do this for each other. As long as there are both parents, who needs a nanny? You should totally have your DH plan a day with his kids in his Hello Kitty planner .....!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day! Even though I don't have kids, it's not often that I get a day where I can do "relaxing" things - when I'm home there's always some project or thing that "must get done," or someone else has plans for me (my DH wants to go somewhere, my sister needs me to babysit, etc.). The only change I'd make to your day for you (because, you know, I have every right to do that ;)) is scrap the Skype session, make it a meet up (to include everyone - time and distance is not an issue here) at a coffee shop.
